What They Do

Dermal fillers are injectables that restore natural volume to the face and soften lines and creases. These can be used in areas such as the cheeks, “parentheses lines,” marionette creases, lips, vertical lip lines, chin, and jowls.

The most common dermal fillers used are hyaluronic acid based. Hyaluronic acid is a substance normally found in our skin around our collagen fibers. In these injectable forms, hyaluronic acid is safe and gives a very natural looking result. Juvederm and Restylane are the most common families of products used. There are products in both families that are suitable to correct different areas, including loss of volume in the lips, fine lines around the mouth, moderate wrinkles, and deep volume loss in the cheeks.

Juvederm family of products includes: Juvederm Volbella, Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC, Voluma, and Vollure.

Restylane family of products includes: Restylane Silk, Restylane-L, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne

Non-hyaluronic acid based fillers like Radiesse are composed of calcium hydroxylapatite spheres in a gel form and are wonderful for volumizing areas like the cheeks.

Depending on the filler used, results can last from 6-24 months.

There is minimal downtime with filler injections and any side effects such as bruising, swelling and redness are temporary.

At Delray Dermatology, we employ skill and artistry for a natural looking result. Let us help you decide which filler is best for your needs.
